I just felt that "be in a romantic relationship" was a little too non-specific, since some may want to experience romance at all (without the relationship part).) Cupioromantics have a desire to fall in love or be in a romantic relationship, despite not being able to experience romantic attraction. Although many people associate strongly with the term, many people are against this term, saying it represents conformity with amatonormativity, the view that romantic relationships are more favorable than other types of relationships, such as a queerplatonic relationship. This identity was formerly (and briefly) known as kalosromantic.
