Cupioromantics have a desire to be in a romantic relationship, despite not not feeling romantic attraction. Although many people associate strongly with the term, many people are against this term, saying it represents conformity with amatonormativity, the view that romantic relationships are more favorable than other types of relationships, such as a [[queerplatonic]] relationship. This identity was formerly (and briefly) known as kalosromantic.

Cupioromantism is an orientation falling on the aromantic spectrum, where a person has a desire for experiencing romantic love but is physically unable to or wants to be in a romantic relationship but doesn't experience romantic attraction.

Cupioromantism is often regarded as being only "an attempt to fit in" with the alloromantic society. Even though it is actually a real, and often painful, experience.

Nonetheless, despite this apparent and often truly existing contradiction, it is still very much possible to have some sort of romantic relationship without necessarily experiencing (lots of) romantic attraction towards that person.
